Your first family adventure

Start small. Choose an easy cache, pack a few essentials, and enjoy the search together.

1. Choose one easy find

Pick a traditional cache with low difficulty and terrain ratings. Read the description and recent logs together. Check park hours, access, and the weather.

2. Pack the essentials

Bring water, a pen, and comfortable walking shoes. Take optional trade items of equal or greater value. Choose a short route and stay together.

3. Let kids lead the looking

Let your child spot possible hiding places. Slow down near the coordinates—GPS is approximate. Skip unsafe areas. Not finding a cache is okay!

4. Celebrate and care for the cache

Sign the paper log, then close the container securely. Return it exactly where you found it. Ask your grown-up to log the adventure online.
